Concert on December 14th, 2012

Seven Years performed a fund raiser at Village Church on Friday December 14, 2012.  The night was a great success on many fronts.  Being among friends on such a tragic day was an amazing comfort.  There is no way for the human mind or heart to understand how a human being can murder 26 people – most of whom were under the age of ten.  The Bible verse that speaks volumes about such pure hatred is in Romans Chapter 12: 21 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” To shut down or become weakened by evil does no one any good.  We shall work twice as hard to spread the hope of salvation and the good news of the Bible to as many people as will listen.  The heart will only change when the truth is taught and lived.  Perhaps there is no better way to honor the fallen and the heroes of this tragedy than to love more and to give more.

After an opening prayer for those suffering on this day, the members of Seven Years do what they have been gifted to do, they played and they sang. One of the most famous Psalms was sung by David and it started like this “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46). Sometimes there is healing power in song.  The band was in great form. Our opening act, Keoni Thompson, was gracious and inspiring.  Justin and Cole were nothing short of captivating.   Some people think their voices were ordained to sing in perfect harmony. We sold a few CD’s shy of 50 and we raised $300 to help the church repair their grand piano. But most importantly, the Holy Spirit was filling the space with love and a song all His own. Praise God!
